Below are some FAQ's about the kitchen, equipment terms and conditions of hire, and general food laws that apply in the Auckland region.
What do I need to start using the kitchen?
Be able to provide a copy of your food hygiene certificate
Complete the iCook registration form
Show proof of liability insurance policy which must be maintained for the duration of your iCook kitchen hire term
Pre-pay your kitchen hire upon invoice
Once I become an iCook client, what do I need to have in place to be able to sell my food product(s)?
Confirmation of Food Safety compliance from a Market Manager (iCook can assist with this*)
Confirmation of Food Safety compliance from Auckland Council (iCook can assist with this*)
Can you help me with food law compliance?
iCook provides support to hirers for Auckland Council food law compliance, liaising with market managers and "A grade" kitchen use confirmation
Once registered with iCook, hirers will have their information passed on to Auckland Council
Hirers are then required to provide procedures and outline the types of products being produced to the Council for their records
Hirers will also be required to organise a site visit at their own expense
Food regulation compliance assistance - one-off $100.00 administration fee
A one-off administration fee ($100.00 + GST) is charged by iCook to confirm use of the kitchen
The fee includes iCook preparing an authorised letter to Council, and/or an authorised letter to a nominated market manager including confirmation of the hirer's usage of the iCook Kitchen (up to weekly) and/or a copy of the iCook “A” grade certificate and details of the hirer's booking/s
Can you help me with a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate?
iCook can refer you to a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate training course through our preferred supplier. Please contact us for more information on this service.
Is the kitchen certified?
The iCook Commercial Kitchen is A Grade certified, with plenty of food preparation and storage equipment. The kitchen has 'high risk' certification status meaning it is suitable for food businesses preparing food products classified as 'high risk' by law.
Do you have any hygiene rules for using the kitchen?
Wear closed in footwear at all times
Have hair tied back, hats or hairnets must be worn
Have clean and sanitised hands upon entry to the kitchen, after handling rubbish, visiting the bathroom, handling different types of food or money
Wear gloves if you have any cuts
Change gloves after handling different types of food
Keep your finger nails short and clean, free of nail varnish
Not wear any jewellery while working in the kitchen

What kind of storage is available?
Dry, cold, and frozen storage is available at no charge during the kitchen hire. For a fee iCook also offers the option of storing product in the kitchen if the hirer supplies the storage unit,
Do I have to clean up after myself?
Yes - iCook operates a user-cleans cleaning policy. Cleaning time is included in the total time of kitchen hire - we recommend allowing approximately 20 minutes for cleaning within your hire time. All kitchen users are expected to leave the kitchen in a clean and tidy state. This includes cleaning any equipment used, doing dishes and unloading the dishwasher, wiping and sanitizing all surfaces, sweeping and mopping floors and taking out rubbish.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellation of any booking needs to be in writing 48 hours before the start time of the hire period. Failure to cancel before this time frame will result in you being required to pay the cost of your hire in full to iCook.
What are your payment terms?
iCook operates on a prepaid system. Upon booking an invoice will be issued, and you will be required to pay this in full before using the kitchen. For catering bookings a non-refundable deposit of 30% is required at the time of booking to secure the booking.
How far in advance do I need to book?
iCook recommends booking at least two weeks in advance to avoid disappointment. We will do our best to accommodate requests as much as possible. However we operate on a first-in first-served basis.
Is there parking available at the kitchen?
Limited street parking is available in the streets surrounding the kitchen. A loading bay is available for use at the start and end of each kitchen hire to load and unload your vehicle.
